We all have personal goals, and many of us struggle to achieve them. Every year we excitedly establish goals as part of our New Year’s resolutions, only to give them up by the end of January.

So how do we get better at reaching our goals? Not surprisingly, research shows that people who are good at setting and achieving goals have more self-esteem, more self-confidence, and feel as if they have more control over their own happiness and well-being.

Goal Mate is an innovative new startup which is developing a digital platform that helps you to set good goals and march successfully toward them. Most importantly, as part of the process the Goal Mate app also pairs you with an accountability partner (aka “Goal Mate”) for support, motivation, and brainstorming.

Here’s the science behind it: According to a study from the Association for Talent Development, if you make a conscious decision that you want to achieve something, this increases your chances of success by 10–25%. Having a clear plan of how you’re going to achieve it increases your chances further, to 50%. But if you commit to someone else that you’ll do it, and report back to them, there’s a 68% chance of success. That’s huge.

Goal Mate takes this science and wraps it all up into an easy-to-use digital platform. With a planned public release later this year, the platform is currently in private beta. You can sign up here to join for free!
