Introduction
What this is all about.
I started my first business at the age of 18. It didn’t end well, but I learned a lot. Since then I’ve founded a few more startup ventures, with better results.
After a long Silicon Valley career as an entrepreneur and executive, I settled into a new passion: supporting new entrepreneurs.
Today I do a little angel investing, I teach entrepreneurship at Stanford, coach startup CEO’s at Miller Center for Social Entrepreneurship, and I run the 4thly Startup Accelerator.
Over the years I’ve had the opportunity to work with hundreds of entrepreneurs. I’ve seen some succeed wildly and some fail miserably.
Based on the patterns I’ve observed over the years I’ve developed a framework I call The Launch Path. It’s a process designed to help entrepreneurs everywhere get smoothly from an early startup idea to a successful, scaleable venture.
This, right now, is the best time ever to be an entrepreneur. In the past decade there has been a profound democratization with regard to access to knowledge and access to capital. Never in history have the means of production or access to markets been as available as they are today. You have chosen exactly the right moment to start a venture.
I’ve had a front-row seat to watching Silicon Valley grow into the global hub of entrepreneurship and innovation that it is today. This book is my attempt to to distill the lessons of my career into a framework to help entrepreneurs everywhere to succeed and thrive.
